Wheels and Tyres Lead Engineer

About The Position

REE is changing the electric mobility and aims at becoming the standard for EVs.

 We work with leading automotive players worldwide and technology companies to ensure the development, engineering, and manufacturing.

We are currently looking for an experienced Chassis Wheels & Tyres Lead Engineer to support REE’s rapid growth.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the delivery of the mechanical design integration for wheels, Wheel hubs and tyres.

Develop and monitor technical targets for integrating design, CAE, development, legal and performance criteria.

Responsible for population and maintenance of the product BOM’s in PLM, and content. 

Responsible for the generation of all wheels & tyres related envelope files for packaging team. 

Taking ownership of all wheels & Tyres interfaces including interconnects to surrounding systems. 

Taking ownership of all mechanical inputs into wheels and tyres system specifications. 

Responsible for DFMEA on wheels and tyres 

Provides input into mechanical DVP requirements. 

Responsible for technical Interface to wheels & tyres suppliers, surrounding systems/aggregates owners including packaging. 

Provide support to other aggregates in the business to achieve release deadlines. 

Identify opportunities to reduce complexity, cost and weight. 

Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Several years’ experience of working in a complex engineering environment from a similar background.

Previous proven experience of developing and delivering wheels and tyres from concept to production.

Possess good understanding of wheels and tyres attributes, service implications, manufacturing and assembly requirements. 

A good knowledge of rig validation methods and vehicle structural testing is an advantage. 

Understand what influence wheels & Tyres/ Driveshafts design has upon the overall dynamic behaviour of the vehicle. 

Have a good all-round engineering knowledge, i.e. material selection, tolerancing, FEA analysis, component manufacturing processes, quality control, etc.  

Experience of other chassis systems/components at concept level is an advantage. 

Dynamic package analysis using kinematics. 

Project planning, DFMEA, DFA, DFM experience

Managing workload in a fast-paced environment with potential for changing priorities.

Working experience of Microsoft Office products including SharePoint, Excel and Word
