Quality Engineer

We are currently looking for a Quality Engineer to support REE’s rapid growth.
Overview
The Quality Engineer will maintain product conformity to meet customer expectations and internal specifications, to improve component quality and productivity. Support in continuously improving the quality assurance and control processes, developing and implementing processes that include methods to minimize and eliminate waste. To assist with both internal and external quality audits and resultant product quality levels in line with internal and regulatory requirements. Address, investigate and resolve Internal quality issues at both part and vehicle level inclusive of field failure analysis.
Essential role Functions
· Conduct problem identification and develop and implement resolution with Internal customers as well as Suppliers to ensure incidents of non conformance are robustly contained and addressed
· Develop Control mechanics at vehicle level with a view to ensuring product conformity at each stage of assembly and vehicle buy off / validation.
· Understand & develop vehicle standards
· Work closely with Engineering to ensure ECR process is adhered to and all issues captured within appropriate platform.
· Identify and implement continuous improvement activities
· Design and implement methods for process control, testing and inspection
· Serve as a member of team and participate in developing the company’s business procedures and programs in line with the QMS / ISO 9001 / ISO14001
· Help develop and implement the Quality department’s strategy, to ensure it meets the business requirements and customer deliverables, as well as ensuring the departmental performance against set goals
· Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure adherence to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process or system
· Lead onsite problem-solving activities (8D). Ensuring appropriate investigation of discrepancies, errors, complaints, failures or ad-verse events requiring documented review and action (if necessary, interrupting processes causing material to be quarantined or placed on hold until matters are resolved).
· Work with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements
· Ensure effective inbound inspection is in place, managed and reported. Where applicable report non-conformance and enable follow-up.
· Promote the use of preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
· Provide concise, complete and accurate documentation of inspection results relative to area of responsibility.
· Assist with training of quality awareness
· Support and lead process improvement activities
· Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends
· Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
· Produce written reports and make presentations
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
Requirements
· Obtain a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-related discipline, or gain equivalent experience (minimum 3 years experience at Engineer level).
· Possess detailed knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 or IATF 16949 / ISO 45001:2018 / VDA
· Hold certification as an auditor in ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 advantageous
· Demonstrate an analytical and quantitative approach to problem-solving
· Ability to work with suppliers ensuring that Quality concerns are addressed
· Flexibility to travel to suppliers occasionally
· Flexibility to travel to REE UK – especially early on for product knowledge training
· Assess various gauges and measurement systems within the automotive arena
· Deliver quality training across functions and at all organizational levels
· Demonstrate a thorough understanding of APQP, FMEA’s, Control Plans, Flow Diagrams, and in-process inspection
· Experience working within vehicle assembly at recognized OEM.
· Understanding of vehicle builds and experience with vehicle buy off / final inspection
· Critical organization and time management skills are necessary
· Display self-motivation and goal orientation with a strong drive for success
· Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
