We are looking for a highly motivated NPI Planner to manage New Product Introduction (NPI) planning & linkage to sourcing during Engineering builds and throughout the change management process.
You will interface with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, compliance, system test, reliability, supply chain and operations to define and drive development of new product programs while also managing change on existing programs. You will also build and leverage strong working relationships with cross-functional partners in engineering and other teams. The NPI planner is part of the key planning function sitting between Engineering, Purchasing and Operations. The role will work with engineering ensuring the management of the Engineering Change Management process (ECM) is aligned to purchasing and considers the lead time, quantities and introduction of newly created or released products is accurate and maintained in SAP. The role will own the running change process through all functions to ensure: Zero obsolescence and accurate run out data (customer & Supplier) / On time delivery of new components to meet manufacturing deadlines.
•Deliver clear-to-build status, material coverage, run-out reports and other analyses as needed to plan Engineering and Pre-Production Builds.
•Ensure parts in the right place, at the right quality level for each build event
•Translation of engineering BOM to production/manufacturing BOM and accuracy of such through each build phase, at SOP, and through change management cycles
•Build and maintain operational partnerships with assigned suppliers, interface with suppliers on delivery status, issues and resolution. Escalate to commercial or technical partners when required (procurement, accounts payable, quality, engineering, etc.).
•Support sourcing and introduce new suppliers that can meet technical, lead time, or other requirements to allow rapid, high-quality sourcing.
•Monitor current market conditions and technology roadmaps to proactively identify and address any supply challenges and to determine future business opportunities
•Work with Finance, and Supply Chain team to project BOM cost in later program phases
•Define continuous improvement processes that will improve risk, launch, and change management.
•At least 3 years’ experience in sourcing, manufacturing, supply chain management.
•Strong knowledge of SAP MRP/ERP with a solid understanding of discrete manufacturing, bills of material, product lifecycle management, procure to pay processes and supply chain operations.
•Demonstrated experience in the management of engineering projects for mass produced products required.
•Demonstrated understanding of the design cycle.
•Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining and communicating schedules.
•Demonstrated understanding of multilevel Bill of Material hierarchy, including hardware and software components.
•Demonstrated understanding of product release cycle as it relates to the creation and change management of parts and BOM structures.
•Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
•Skills with common workplace software (word processor, spreadsheet, presentation software etc.) with the ability to create and maintain metrics.
•Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and supply chain personnel.
