We are looking for a Aerothermal Simulations Engineer based at our engineering centre in Coventry.


In this position you will be responsible for the development and validation of front end design concepts (including Air on / Air off ducts and Cooling Module design) to ensure optimised air flow and distribution to support Thermal System performance and efficiency targets. 


You will also be responsible for CAE tool and process development to support design concept definition, CFD analysis / validation and data sharing with 1-D Simulation Engineer, to deliver optimised Front End Module concept and Cabin Interior Air disctibution concepts to deliver Thermal System performance and efficiency targets. 


You will also be responsible for supporting Physical (Thermal Rig and Vehicle) testing, to utilize results to support CAE tool correlation, to support continued CAE tool maturation process.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead CAE Tool and process development to support Front End Module and HVAC Air Distribution design, development and validation.
  • Collaborate with Thermal System team to support the development and implementation of innovative Active Vane and eFan Control Logic to support efficient thermal system control strategies.
  • Collaborate with Cabin Interior Design team(s) to support the development and implementation of innovative Duct and Air Intake and / or Air Distribution Control Logic to support thermal system delivery of Occupant Comfort and Vehicle Efficiency targets.
  • Support decomposition of vehicle-level requirements into Thermal system-level Requirements, to be cascaded to internal and / or external design teams.
  • Assist the Thermal System team in the definition of the Thermal System Requirements together with the Requirements Engineers.
  • Support Virtual & Physical testing and lead correlation activities to support CAE tool maturation and Thermal System sign-off activities.

Requirements

Qualifications/ Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
  • 3-D design experience [Catia V5]
  • Front End and HVAC Duct concept CFD Analysis to deliver optimise design concept [Star-CCM+]
  • Thermal Rig and Vehicle test experience including data logging and data processing to support CAE tool correlation activities.
  • TaiTherm experience beneficial to support control optimisation of HVAC Air Intake and Air Distribution, to support delivery of Occupant Comfort attribute.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of Vehicle Thermal and Aerodynamics or related roles.
  • Skilled at engaging and collaborating with international colleagues & customers.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Managing workload in a fast-paced environment with potential for changing priorities.
  • Working experience of Microsoft Office products including SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • ILR to live and work in the UK. REE do not offer work permits, visas or sponsorships
