HIL Development and Testing Engineer

About The Position

As Hardware In-the Loop development and testing Engineer, your role will be to develop, maintain and execute our HIL and Dyno facility within REE Control Software Team based in the UK.

This role involves Hardware commissioning with High Voltage Systems, issue analysis resolution, development of Models, integration of new and existing simulation Plants, creation of system test cases, requirement review and test automation in the final product.

As part of your testing activities, this role involves supporting the Calibration of our Software and Release process sign off.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead Rapid-prototyping and control algorithm software integration using dSPACE HIL platform;
  • Coordinate HIL bench deployment and support for Electric/Mechanic/X-drive by wire systems and their associated software and hardware tools;
  • Plan, communicate, and coordinate HIL and Dyno strategy supporting features rollout as required by the project milestones;
  • Support the design of our Dynamometer facility and hardware simulators for high voltage components such as DCDC Converters, Inverters, Electric Machines and Batteries;
  • System requirement analysis and creation of systems test cases;
  • Test planning and managing test cases;
  • Work closely with Feature’s development owners to keep updated the testing strategy ahead of software releases;
  • Work closely with the Control and the Electronics Team to define interface specification and review of control strategies;
  • Develop manual and automated drivers and test cases following requirements coverage strategy;
  • Develop Simulink Wrappers and models for integration of open and closed loops controllers;
  • Develop HIL rig supervisor controller and Calibration environment to support HIL test execution with tools ControlDesk/CANAPE/CANoe;
  • Develop HIL rig simulation model with interface and plug-in concept to ease the integration of multiple simulation plants and controllers;
  • Integrate off-the shelves powertrain libraries in vehicle model;
  • Execution of functional test cases;
  • Design and execution of fault injection test for sensors, actuators, communication busses and other hardware components;
  • Execute fault matrix reactions strategy and OBD DTC testing;
  • Execution of regression testing;
  • Create result reports with ad-hoc documents in our traceability system;
  • Execution of test validation and verification of software releases at HIL rig and Dyno;
  • Support issues resolution and bug fixing as required by the Team;
  • Analyze vehicle and HIL/Dyno data log for issue route cause investigation;
  • Support software builds for both HIL rig controllers and Control systems as required;
  • Provide lead, guidelines and instruction to Control Team’s developers supporting HIL rig remote access;
  • Create and maintain detail documentation of the HIL setup and Hardware following requirements update and evolution;


Requirements

  • Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Computer science, Automotive engineering, Aerospace engineering or similar.
  • At least 10 years working in the Automotive industry in a technical HIL development role;
  • Previous experience in Project Management within DVP, Testing and HIL rig Design;
  • Experience with test execution in High Voltage dynamometer with battery emulators;
  • Background development or consultancy experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1 suppliers with familiarity with production projects and gateways;
  • Deep understanding/development experience of Model Based design auto code generation of Control Systems in vehicle or components ECU using MathWorks tools and AUTOSAR stack;
  • Experience with dSPACE rapid prototyping tools for design and debugging: ASM, ControlDesk, ConfigurationDesk, BusManager;
  • Experience with Vector tools: CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape, Diva, Candela.
  • Test specifications and Calibration experience using Simulation, HIL rig, Dyno and Vehicle prototypes;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Familiarity with Automotive standards and processes ASPICE, ISO 26262
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, GIT, SVN- Advantage
  • Experience with Polarion ALM/DOORs- Advantage
  • Experience with Aurix Infineon TCxxx microcontrollers- Advantage
  • Experience with CAN-FD protocols- Advantage
  • Experience on Powertrain/Vehicle Dynamics plant modelling and Integration- Advantage
